The Banksia - From Burnt out to Bloom

What is a Banksia? The banksia is a native Australian flower that is known to thrive in harsh and challenging environments, and has the unique ability to regrow after fire. Banksia plants symbolize resilience, perseverance and adaptability, and are the perfect representation of my belief in our client's strength and capacity for personal and professional growth.

Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor

My name is Sarah Binks and I'm a Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist with over 15 years’ experience helping clients and clinicians reach their goals. As an Australian-Canadian, I am currently enjoying raising my 2 "Can-Aussie" kids with my partner in Ontario, Canada. I have a deep love for Australian chocolate biscuits, listening to podcasts, Harry Potter, Gilmore Girls, and reading romance novels (think Discovery of Witches, and anything by Jenny Colgan).

I have extensive experience helping people manage worry, stress, over-thinking, overwhelm, perfectionism, burnout, and imposter syndrome. As a recovering perfectionist myself, I can personally relate to my clients' experiences. I specialise in supporting social workers and psychotherapists thrive in their professional practice, while maintaining their own personal health and wellbeing.

In addition to running Banksia Counselling & Supervision, I spend my time working on my PhD research, teaching at a Community College in Ontario, Canada, and parenting/caregiving (hello Sandwich generation!).

I am a Registered Social Worker in the Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador. I also meet the eligibility criteria to provide Clinical Supervision with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and College of Nurses Ontario (CNO) for nurse psychotherapists in private practice.
